1. Should I call about outages or are you aware of them?
We are aware of feeder line outages since we have our SCADA running but since no system is perfect, we greatly need your support & cooperation for reports on power outages for us to you serve better.
2. Why do you ask so many questions when I call about an outage?
We need to get all the information of the caller (full name, complete address, telephone/cellphone number) for our crew to have a contact person on the site; their specific concerns/trouble for us to be prepared on to what the situation would be. Callers during outages are called back by our Switchboard Operator once the power is restored for verification & if they have other more concerns. Information gathered from the caller helps us to fully address your concerns; and so, we would like to request for your cooperation & outmost patience.
3. Why do I get those short outages?
Most of the outages are due to transients & during heavy rains especially w/ strong winds. Transients may be caused by birds flying to power lines, ionization of the air (deeper explanation needed), and branches falling to power lines, lightning, & other unexplainable causes. Constant improvements are being done i.e. acquisition of new technologies, etc. to serve our customers well.
Additional info on TRANSIENT outages... Transients are momentary changes in voltage or current over a short period of time. Poor or loose connections in the distribution system can also generate transients. They may be caused by high winds, which can blow one power line into another or blow tree limbs into the lines causing arcing. Animals & weather can also produce conditions which generate transients
4. Where can I report outages and other electrical problems?
For report on power outages and electrical concerns or problems, customers may call our HOTLINE NUMBER at 047.2528191.
